Darren Oilund

Darren has a strong background in business and team leadership. He started studying Forest Management at Northwest Polytechnic but left to work with his father on forestry equipment innovations. Darren then joined Weyerhaeuser Canada, advancing from equipment operator to ecological harvest planner and Safety and HR professional from 1991 to 2006. His hands-on experience in mill operations provided him with deep insights into industrial processes and safety protocols, applicable to the oil and gas industry.

In 2003, Darren’s wife founded Cloak Medic Services Inc. experiencing steady growth. In 2006, he left the corporate world to become an entrepreneur alongside her. Together, they built a thriving business that later rebranded as Cloak Medic and Safety Services. The company’s success attracted external investors, leading to its acquisition in 2018. During this time his driven nature in business development, he ventured into the insurance industry, working with CMB Insurance Brokers to serve commercial clients in the energy sector.

However, he felt that a piece of himself remained unfulfilled—unfinished business in the oil and gas industry. Fueled by pure passion, he founded Cape Energy Group Inc., powered by an incredibly talented team and strategic partnerships. The company is already reclaiming its position as a main player in H2S Safety Services and related offerings.

Many questions have been asked regarding the name ‘Cape.’ It’s a simple answer: our old company’s name was known as ‘Cloak’. We do not wear a ‘Cloak’ anymore; when you wield your superpowers, you get to wear a ‘Cape’. And let’s be honest, capes are way cooler than cloaks—Batman knows what’s up! Together our team is guided by purpose and fueled by enthusiasm and poised to write the best chapters of our story yet to come.
